The Bioindustry4.0 NTUA team will participate in the 36th European Symposium on Computer Aided Process Engineering (ESCAPE 36), taking place from 21–24 June 2026 at the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.
As part of the conference programme, Stefanos Xenios will host the workshop “Building a Bioprocess Copilot – Knowledge Graphs, Digital Twins and Conversational AI”, exploring how conversational AI, knowledge graphs and digital twins can support bioprocess engineering applications and decision-making , within the framework of Bioindustry 4.0 project.
The team will also present the poster “Semi-Supervised Variational Autoencoders for Learning Feasible Kinetic Parameter Spaces” (Modelling & Simulation) and the oral presentation “A LSTM Neural Networks Framework for Automated Kinetic Model Identification in Bioprocesses” (Process Control & Operation), showcasing recent advances in machine learning and data-driven modelling for bioprocess systems.
A special highlight of ESCAPE 36 will be the George Stephanopoulos Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of Process Systems Engineering. The award is co-sponsored by the National Technical University of Athens and the Stephanopoulos Charitable Trust for Process Systems Engineering (TRUST), and will be presented by Professor Antonis Kokossis during the award ceremony.
