Abstract
A discussion on life cycle engineering in the oil and gas industries, with reference to HDS of gas oil (the reaction is endothermic in the presence of a cobalt molybdenum catalyst), presented at the AIChE Annual Meeting (Austin, TX 11/7-12/2004), covers life cycle engineering tools; tools and models for waste minimization; eco-efficiency (environmental and economic viability); distribution of refinery products; oil and gas impurities; mitigation approaches; impact of potential for air emissions; product and feed costs; process simulation; and environmental critical assessment review.
