The Workshop was organized by the National Technical University of Athens with the valuable help of the Denmark Technical University as the local hosts. Theme of the conference was: “Biorefinery modeling: state-of-the-art tools in flowsheeting, property modeling, synthesis and optimization Training and hands-on sessions to use and to integrate modeling environments“.
The Workshop aimed at transfusing into the study of Biorefineries those Process Systems Engineering tools, which have already been successful in the traditional chemical and petrochemical industry.
Participants benefited from a packed programme and an impressive range of activities: industrial visits, visits to local BRISK facilities, introductory lectures by seasoned professionals on PSE tools, authoritative high-level lectures on PSE and Biorefineries, all framed by the Hans Christian Andersen magic of Copenhagen and ample time for networking.
Proceedings fused into the ensuing PSE2015 / ESCAPE25 conference, where the RENESENG Project held a special technical session in the morning of Monday 1st June and was accessible in its dedicated exhibition booth throughout the conference.
